Colonial Authorities have released information on the freighter, now disclosed as the Desert Wind, found last week adrift in the Titan to Mars tradeway. Reports are indicating that that the vessel was boarded, likely the victim of piracy. The whereabouts and condition of the crew are unknown. The ship was towed to Mars to undergo forensic investigation.
The Colonial Authorities released this statement:
The Colonial Authorities of both Mars and Titan would like to reassure the public and businesses of this sector that we are doing the utmost to catch the perpetrators of this crime. Piracy will not be tolerated and is treated as a capital offence. The Desert Wind has a crew of 10 humans and 2 mechanoids, none of which were found on the ship. The vessel was carrying Purina 745 series droids.
If anybody finds this shipment notify the Authorities immediately. We would also like to remind captains of vessels that use of force to protect one’s vessel and crew is allowed. When communicating with another ship, always make sure to give your correct ships registration code, and ensure that the code you receive is itself valid. Under no circumstances are you to board another ship without confirming the registration code first. Report any suspicious activity to your local Colonial Authority upon arrival.
